One of the most famous landmarks is the Nuremberg Imperial Castle. The imposing fortress is enthroned on a hill above the city and offers a spectacular view of the whole of Nuremberg. One of the city's best-known sons is the painter Albrecht Dürer, whose house is at the foot of the monkey rock of the Imperial Castle. Nuremberg's old town in particular offers a lot of places worth seeing that are of historical importance. The city wall and numerous buildings, such as the market fountain and the Frauenkirche, are well preserved and offer an insight into life in the Middle Ages.

The Nuremberg Christkindlesmarkt, which takes place every year at Christmas time, is particularly well-known.
